Anxiety Disorder

Experiencing occasional anxiety is a normal part of life, however, if you experience intense, excessive and persistent worry and fear, you may be suffering from ‘anxiety disorder’. This can involve persistent and excessive anxiety and worry about activities, events as well as ordinary, routine issues.

There is no one cause of anxiety disorders, life experiences such as traumatic events can be a trigger in people who are already prone to anxiety. Examples of anxiety disorders include panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Symptoms include stress that’s out of proportion to the impact of the event, inability to set aside a worry, and restlessness.
